More people around the world love road trips and the comfort of traveling with their own cars. That’s because because road trips often offer unique, wonderful experiences that you can’t take advantage of when taking a plane.

We want to share with you the experiences of various people who spent a lot of time on the road. We’ll provide you with some of the best tips and tricks that can be used in your road trips in order to make sure you have an enjoyable vacation, getting the most out of every second!

Always bring a paper map in the event your GPS or phone die.

We rely heavily on technology nowadays, and often forget to use our eyes and minds. We get alarmed when we can’t use the GBS, or when Internet is not available, or our battery dies. A great practice is to just bring a map and read the traffic signs, so that we can easily reach our destination without being dependent on technology.

Be prepared and make sure you always have a spare tire in your car.

No one wants to go through this situation where your car stops because you have a flat tyre, and you end up by the side of the road, in the middle of the night. Make sure that you are familiar with the policy of your leasing or insurance company. Always check the quality and condition of your spare tire.

Always keep snacks and drinks in the car.

We often mislead ourselves in thinking there is always a shop or restaurant somewhere close, but sometimes that is not the case, and getting food or a drink can take a lot of time. Getting extremely hungry or thirsty, without any shops nearby, can ruin your day. Make sure your car is stocked with water and non-perishable foods.

Keep note of the petrol stations around your path.

You don’t want your car to stop because of a shortage of fuel, having to stay for hours on the edge of the road waiting for someone to help you. A quick search on Google Maps for gas stations can go a long way in assuring you don’t run in any unexpected inconveniences.

Always bring blankets or sleeping bags with you, and store them in your car.

This is only in case you cannot find accommodation, or want to save money and sleep in your car. If you love sleeping outside, a great practice is to have a tent in your car.

Make a list of your favorite songs and play it on the road.

After the journey is over, those songs will remind you of your memories of the road trip forever. Also, driving while listening to your favorite music is a hundred times nicer!

Bring a backup car key with you.

Often times it happens to lose your main car key, for various reasons. Those moments can cause you many problems, especially if you’re thousands of miles away from your home! Always bring a backup key whether you drive your own car or a rental one. If you ever happen to lose your main key, you’ll be so happy you did!

Be flexible, but have a main traveling plan.

It’s always fun to take decisions on the spot. However, you should always let people at home know at least where you’re going to be for the night. This is an extra security tip that we’ll hopefully never need. That being said, you never know what kind of people you meet, or what emergency situations you might run into.

Take pictures, videos and buy stuff.

Do not spend your entire time filming. Memories are the best part of your vacation. Always collect physical items from the places you travel to, such as stickers, or various other souvenirs you can find in shops.

Always bring a med kit. Even don’t get hurt, you never know when you might encounter someone else who needs help.
