Every year more large ships are built and some are already considered ‘floating cities’. In this article we are going to discuss about the world’s biggest cruise ships.

  1. PRINCESS DIAMOND

It weighs 116,000 tons and is 293 meters long, three times larger than Buckingham Palace and has twice the number of rooms, and can accommodate 2,670 people. Every afternoon you can enjoy beautiful views, tea and snacks in one of the dozens of restaurants and bars on board. The ship has no less than 700 rooms with balconies. This vessel, built in 2004, carries a British flag, and the total cost was $500 million. Princess Diamond was built entirely in Japan.

It weighs 122,000 tons, being 314 meters long and can accommodate 2,850 people. Its first sail was in 2009 and is longer than four Boeing 747 aircrafts combined. The “floating city” is also equipped with a cricket pitch with natural grass. The cost of building the vessel was $750 million, and it is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd and operated under the flag of Malta.

The ship weighs 130,000 tons, is 339 meters long and can accommodate up to 2,500 people. It is considered to be the most beautiful floating place in the world. All Disney characters, a 3D cinema, and a 233-meter slide can be found on board. Disney Dream is truly  a paradise for kids.

This vessel weighs 130,000 tons, is 306 meters long and has a capacity of 3,646 people. The boat can be considered a floating amusement park thanks to the two unique cinemas where viewers can sit in the swimming pools and look at the large LED TVs.

  1. SPLENDIDA

It has a capacity of 138,000 tons with a length of 333 meters and a capacity of 3,274 people, an area of ​​445,000 square meters. This cruise ship is so big that the Eiffel Tower would fit on it.

  1. VOYAGER OF THE SEAS

It weighs 138,000 tons and is 310 meters long and has a capacity of 3,144 people. The ship has a speed skating rink, a cinema, a ballroom, a small golf course and other facilities.

It weighs 283,000 tons with a length of 362 meters and can accommodate 5,400 people. The Oasis was the world’s largest cruise ship until May 2016, and it is just close to the size of the Empire State Building. The ship hosts Broadway style shows on board.

Weighing 227,000 tons with a length of 2,362 meters and a capacity of up to 6,000 people, the ship was completed in May 2016 and it is currently the largest cruise ship in the world. The impressive ship has 4 swimming pools, a complete spa center, a children’s playground, an ice rink, a basketball court, a trampoline and many other restaurants.
